The Dining Room
Auditions
Saturday 24 August 2013 1:30 pm
In A.R. Gurney's Pulitzer Prize nominated play, nearly half a century passes in the course of a single day in the most singular of rooms - where people gather, meals are eaten, conversations begin, and generations converge. The Dining Room chronicles the American Family and the keeping and breaking of traditions. In what has been described as 'a seamless collection of moments,' the show presents a spectrum of glimpses into the human condition: the joys, sorrows, love and comedy that accompany family life. The scenes, which range from the comic to the serious, explore the dynamic relationships of family life.

About the director
Julia Leathwick has over 35 years experience performing in and around theatre, film and television. Having now turned her hand to the front of the stage, Julia has been lucky enough to have been presented with multiple awards for both acting and directing. Julia believes in a very team based production and nothing brings her greater pleasure than seeing the overall vision of a production come to fruition.
Julia originally played ACTRESS NUMBER ONE in a production of The Dining Room many moons ago and has been keen to see it put on again ever since. Ellerslie has always been very generous to Julia, especially allowing her to direct her very first show – Roger Hall’s By Degrees approximately a decade ago and she is looking forward to working again with this dynamic society.
