Alex Gleed

Alex is making a return to the stage after a year long hiatus, and is thrilled to be in the cast of 'Take A Chance On Me' playing 20 different characters. This is Alex's fourth collaboration with Julian Harrison. Other productions he has been involved with under Julian's direction include: So What's For Lunch?, Hayfever and Twelfth Night.

Alex has been immersed with all things theatrical since 2001 when he joined the Howick Children's and Youth Theatre. Since then he has acted in over 20 productions, with highlights including: playing Captain Hook in ‘Peter Pan’, Nick Bottom in ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’, Richard Greatham in ‘Hayfever’ and Sir Toby Belch in ‘Twelfth Night’. He also learnt how to stilt walk with HCYT and has performed on stilts in two variety shows.

Alex teaches drama classes at the Howick Children's and Youth theatre and made his directorial debut with them in 2012. He has overseen productions of ‘Tom Sawyer’ and ‘The Pied Piper’, and will direct ‘One Hundred and One Dalmatians’ this year. Alex is currently studying to become a secondary school Drama and English teacher.
