This is Mike's first role in a full-length play at Ellerslie following two appearances in the ETS One-Act Play Festival. Last year he played Jerry in The Zoo Story and in 2005 he played Wally in Soldier's Song, for which Mike and co-star Colin Hodkinson shared a Best Actor award at the Norfolk Island Amateur Theatre Festival. Mike has also appeared in plays for Mairangi Players 'A Few Good Men', 'Once on Chunuk Bair' and in several of Shoreside Theatre's Summer Shakespeare productions 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'King John', 'Love's Labour's Lost', and 'MacBeth'. In addition to acting, Mike is also trying to develop his skills as a writer, and spent 2006 studying scriptwriting at Victoria University in Wellington.
