Evelyn, a graduate arts student, encounters the shy - nerdy if you will - bookworm Adam in a museum. The two hit it off! Adam can't believe his luck. He's hit the romantic jackpot and falls completely in love with the rather eccentric art student. Who can blame him? Evelyn is the woman he has always dreamed of; she's strong, intelligent, independent and very, very attractive. As their relationship develops, she gradually encourages him to change in ways that test even his older friends.

"LaBute's comedies are biting, challenging and often cruel."

“ ... his ideas on art and humanity will make you hoot, holler, curse the actors, damn LaBute and argue like hell with your date”. Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

“Clever, uncomfortable and brilliantly staged, The Shape of Things leaves the audience with much to talk about”. Brian Clover, Curtain Up
