Anthea’s love of acting started in 2005 when she moved from England to New Zealand. During high school (Western Springs College) she played ‘Angie’ in Top Girls, ‘Countess Wraith’ in Dracula Spectacular and ‘Mam’ in Alan Bennett’s Enjoy. Anthea was introduced to Shakespeare through the University of Otago Sheliah Winn Shakespeare in Schools Festival. In 2006 and 2007, she was chosen to take part in SGCNZ NSSP (Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand National Shakespeare School’s Production) where she performed as Clown in The Winters Tale and Gower in Pericles. In 2008, Anthea was part of SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company, travelling to the UK and performing at the Globe Theatre in London as Helena in Midsummer Night’s Dream. Since leaving school, Anthea has completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Auckland, majoring in Drama and Film Studies. She has taken part in the Unitec ‘Short Cuts’ performances in 2009 and was Kreousa in the University of Auckland’s 204 class production of Eye on Apollo. In 2010, she was part of the Titirangi Theatre Company’s production of The School for Scandal and played role of Isabella in the Breaking Legs Theatre Company’s adaptation of Measure for Measure. This is Anthea’s first performance with The Stables Theatre. Exploring the role of Terry and the subject matter of Extremities has been a challenging and exhilarating experience. With a cast of only four, Anthea has had the opportunity to work in a close and intimate environment with a dedicated team. It has been a great experience for Anthea to work on a community theatre project.
