Cate graduated with a BA majoring in Theatre Studies in 2000 then completed a Diploma of Teaching (secondary) specialising in Drama and English the following year. She feels lucky to have taught Drama and devised and directed student plays in a wide variety of schools including Epsom Girls Grammar, Auckland's Teen Parent Unit and a Montessori School in Ghana, West Africa. For the last five years Cate has been on a break from full-time teaching to be a stay-at-home-Mum with her two young girls. Her “time off” has given her a chance to throw herself back into her first love of acting and writing plays again.
Cate's theatre roles have included playing Elizabeth in 'Pride and Prejudice' and Helen in Peter Schaffer's 'The Gift of the Gorgon'. She has loved the challenge of playing Maeve far too much to stop here and plans to act in and direct plays regularly in the future.
