Bruce Brown
A Graduate from Unitec with a Bachelor in Performing and Screen Arts (Major: Directing & Writing), this will be Bruce Brown’s first time directing a play he has written himself. His past experience has been more directing work then writing, so he saw this as an opportunity to challenge himself to write the play that he has ‘been dreaming about on and off for several years’ and would ‘love to direct’. Having finally put pen to page, he is now excited to cut his teeth working on some tough emotional theatre with actors that share his passion for great drama. Bruce is a graduate of Unitec’s Performing Arts Bachelor programme. He’s been involved as both a writer and director with Short+Sweet Auckland and has directed several productions with Ellerslie Theatre, including Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale (2012), April Phillips’ Motel (2014), Terry Johnson’s The Graduate (2016) and Jonathan Harvey’s Beautiful Thing (2018). He premiered his first solo Basement Theatre show Hook-Up Boys in 2016 to sell-out audiences. Bruce is also the creator and artistic director behind the successful Legacy Project. |
